POSITION:
Assistant Theatre
Technician
LOCATION:

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Knowledge of theater lighting,
sound, and rigging equipment.
2. Knowledge of proper
placement and operation of lighting, sound, and rigging to
obtain the desired theatrical affect.
3. Knowledge of lighting, sound
and rigging maintenance requirements.
4. Knowledge of safety
regulations/procedures governing the placement/operation of
lighting, sound, and rigging.
5. Knowledge of building and fire
codes regulations.
6. Knowledge of current
audio/visual equipment set-up.
7. Skill to determine type,
placement, and operation of lighting, sound and rigging
equipment.
8. Skill to instruct part-time and
volunteers in the proper and safe operation of lighting, audio
and sound.
9. Skill to operate a variety of
lighting, audio, and rigging equipment.
10. Skill to advise supervisors
regarding the purchase of appropriate lighting, audio and
rigging equipment.
11. Skill to perform routine
maintenance and repair tasks on lighting, audio and
rigging.
12. Skill to maintain appropriate
records.
13. Carpentry and set design
skills.
14. Significant experience
placement/operations of lighting, sound, and rigging equipment
for stage productions. Maintenance of said equipment
15. High School graduation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assists the performing arts
director schedule the use of the theater by various groups and
organizations; assists in the running of scheduled
events.
2. Provides advise and assistance
to Columbia staff and performance groups in the proper set-up
and operation of the theater lighting, sound, and rigging
systems. May personally operate lighting, sound, and rigging
systems.
3. Either personally or through
vendors repairs and maintains lighting, sound, and rigging
equipment.
4. Provides advice and assistance
purchasing additional or replacement of theater lighting,
sound, and rigging equipment.
5. Ensures the safe and proper use
of theater lighting, and sound equipment.
6. Instructs staff and theater
volunteers in the safe and proper operation of theater
lighting, sound and rigging equipment.
7. Assist in building of sets and
prop materials.
