SPECIAL NEEDS IEP AIDE - SPECIAL
EDUCATION
FUNCTION
Performs work
of routine to moderate difficulty in providing assistance
to one or more eligible students with specific moderate to severe
disabilities requiring adult assistance to accomplish goals and
objectives identified in the student's IEP
in the school, community, and/or home setting; provides
assistance in functional academic, communication, self-help
,
behavior, life and vocational skills
to a specific student or students for as long as the student(s)
are enrolled and require the individualized assistance.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Work is
performed independently requiring some measure of initiative
under the guidance of the special education teacher and general
supervision of the Site Administrator.
The Site Administrator will at least annually evaluate the Aide's
performance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assist in
preparing learning activities and arranging and/or positioning
materials and equipment used by specifically assigned
students based upon the IEP/ITP goals, objectives, and needs for
the specific student.
Assist
specifically assigned students in functional academic,
communication, self help, behavior, life and
vocational, based upon the IEP/ITP goals, objectives, and needs,
e.g. toileting, eating, dressing, grooming, personal hygiene,
etc.
Assist in the
delivery of services to specifically assigned
students in collaboration with regular/special education teachers
throughout the school, community, and home.
May assist in
locating appropriate job sites in the school and the community,
and in job training and supervising specifically assigned
eligible students on job sites.
Observe,
prepare, and maintain records and reports under the direction of
the special education teacher.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
May be
required to attend seminars or workshops to gain necessary skills
and knowledge.
Perform other
related duties as assigned.
WORK CONTACTS
Frequent
contact with students, staff and parents.
Some contact with the general public.
CONDITIONS OF WORK
Work involves
lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling up to 40 pounds.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Some
knowledge of the educational environment.

ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Some
experience providing academic and physical assistance to special
students; high school graduation or equivalent; or any equivalent
combination of experience and training, which provides the
knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the work.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Possession of
or ability to obtain a valid Nevada Driver's License.
Some
positions may desire the ability to sign and use sign
language.
