Chemistry/Physics Teacher
Basic Qualifications
:
Bachelor degree in content area or
education, a valid Illinois high school (type 09)
teaching certificate with ISBE certification in both
content areas, excellent communication skills, an energetic and
outgoing personality, strong administrative/organizational
skills, self-starter and adept at using technology are
essential.
Preferred Qualifications
:
Master degree
in content area or education and experience in secondary
education are preferred.
Expectations
:
Responsibilities of the teacher
involve the establishment of a learning environment within the
classroom and larger school community that integrates
academic rigor, scientific inquiry and sound instructional
pedagogy.
Specific responsibilities shall
include, but not be limited to:

Knowledge of the mission and vision
of the Northside College Prep High School and support in
incorporating and communicating this vision
·
Knowledge of the mission of the
Northside College Prep Science Department and support in
incorporating and communicating this mission
·
Providing professional instructional
leadership within the classroom through carefully prepared and
planned lessons that foster a positive classroom
environment.
·
Establishing clearly stated
expectations for student behavior and classroom
management.
·
Regularly monitoring student
progress and applying it to the objectives of the course as well
as content and skill development.
·
Providing an appropriate level of
instruction to students of varying ability levels.
·
Utilizing technology in appropriate
manners to deliver content and assess learning
·
Working collaboratively within the
department to establish departmental goals and objectives.
·
Actively participating in the
process of curriculum mapping and development.
·
Communicating with both the
counseling department and the special education department
regarding individual student progress and well-being as deemed
necessary.
·
Actively participating in department
and faculty meetings.
·
Working collaboratively with the
entire NCP faculty and staff in developing and maintaining a
positive school culture.
·
Developing improved methods of
technology incorporation to enhance student
learning.
·
Maintaining open communication with
parents regarding specific student progress and academic
development.
·
Continuing professional
self-development.
