Description:

Full-time Physical Therapist position available at the elementary school level for the 2012-13 school year in Arlington Heights School District 25.

 


Job Summary:

Must have experience with students with a variety of disabilities, including students with autism, behavior disorders, and other learning and cognitive delays. Please see the attached job description for complete details.



Qualifications:

  • possess a valid license to practice physical therapy as defined in the Illinois Physical Therapy Practice Act, and whose license is in good standing; and
  • meet the license requirements established by the Illinois Department of Professional Regulations.
  • preferred candidates will speak a second language

Responsibilities:

The specific duties and responsibilities of the Physical Therapist shall include, but not be limited to the following activities and duties:
    Serve as a member of a multidisciplinary team to screen, diagnose, and determine eligibility for physical therapy services for the child;Complete all required components of the physical therapy case study evaluation;Enhance student mobility and participation in educational activities by increasing strength, accuracy and speed;Ensure easier student total care by maintaining flexibility;Enhance comfort, participation and attention to maintaining functional postures;Facilitate safety in the school environment by decreasing the possibility of injury to student's self or others as he/she moves or performs skills/tasks;Improve educational success by increasing coordination of small motor skills and eye-hand movements;Maintain functional movement by prevention of contractures;Facilitate access to and mobility within school by assessing and changing the environment;Increase functional use of extremities through the use of adapted equipment;Facilitate student's independence through access to assistive technology;Provide consultative and/or resource services to parents, classroom teachers, and other professional personnel;Promote competency and safety of educational staff in body mechanics, handling techniques, motor skills, and classroom adaptations; andBe responsible for all aspects of budgeting, purchasing, and program planning within the physical therapy budget.
