Juneau is the third largest city in Alaska with a population of over 31,000 resting along the shoreline of the Gastineau Channel in the panhandle of Southeast Alaska. With a temperate year-round climate, residents enjoy many outdoor activities including hiking, boating, fishing, hunting or just exploring our beautiful landscape. There are many opportunities for snow sports enthusiasts including snowboarding or skiing at Eaglecrest Ski Area, cross-country skiing on one our many wooded trails or ice skating (indoors or outdoors). We have local performing arts groups, two museums, three libraries, two multi-screen movie theaters and an awesome school system. Juneau Schools offer many choices so that every student can find the best fit for his or her learning needs. We have two high schools plus an alternative high school, two middle schools, and six elementary schools, in addition to specialized program that include a charter school and a Montessori.
