Qualifications:- Bachelors Degree in Special Education (Masters preferred)
- Certified in Special Education
Primary Functions: The Educational Diagnostician is responsible for the process and procedures that ensure federal, state and local special education regulations are in compliance for students with disabilities to receive the service and supports outlined in their Individual Education Plan (IEP) Responsibilities:- Establish and
maintain audit files to comply with federal, state, and local special
education regulations for students in the REACH Program
- Demonstrate
knowledge of best practices in educating students with moderate to severe
intellectual disabilities
- Interpret and
communicate federal and state IDEA (Part B) regulations to staff, parents
& students
- Schedule and conduct
IEP meetings according to district protocol
- Work
collaboratively with IEP team members in the development of Individualized
Education Plans for students with disabilities in the REACH Program
- Coordinate
and communicate with related services personnel (OT, PT, SLT, Transportation, Assistive Tech) for students with disabilities
- Share
knowledge with program staff as it relates to special education services
for students (statewide IEP requirements, Inclusive schools initiative, Standards-Based
IEPs using the Delaware Extended Standards, accommodations/modifications,
etc.)
- Assist program
staff to ensure students with disabilities are provided the core
curriculum and scientifically research-based interventions
- Assist program
teachers with instructional differentiation strategies and accommodations,
modifications, and supports for students
- Assist IEP
team with meaningful transitions for students with disabilities 14 years
or older, especially as it relates to job/community opportunities and the
appropriate curriculum / agency involvement that drives the process
- Serve as an
integral member of the Instructional Support/Consultative Team and/or REACH
Leadership Team
- Participate in
building/district professional development as it relates to curriculum
& instruction within the core content areas
- Disseminate
student record information as appropriate (i.e., teachers, cost recovery,
agencies, etc.)
- Enter and
periodically check accuracy of student data in eSchoolPlus and IEPPlus throughout
the year
- Enter and
update student accommodations information in DELSIS prior to state
testing
- Request and/or
send records for transferring students among other districts or states in
a timely fashion
- Prepare and
coordinate referrals for ICT, alternative placements, and NetWorks to include
all necessary interventions, data collections, and IEP documentation; assist in
the delivery of the presentation for ICT.
- Other duties as assigned by the Principal of Special Programs
