Qualifications: Social Work Master's
Degree from a credited school, Current Type 73 with a focus of School Social Work.
Hours: 7:40am-4:00pm
Goal: As a part of the school support team, the School Social Worker will work collaboratively
with the rest of the student support
team as well as the administrative staff to assist in the operational functions
of the school. The School
Social Worker will help provide
a safe, comfortable and positive
learning environment for all students to be able to reach their goals. The
School Social Worker will also be able to
collaborate and plan with the special education
teachers, case manager
and the general education teachers
through consultative services
as well as through accommodations and modifications.
Reports to: School Director/Coordinator of Student Services
Major Job Responsibilities:
Provides individual and group counseling to enhance student success
Develops and implements
behavior intervention plans formal and informal
Use
the best available evidence (database, scholarly articles and book, and school-based data) understand the role of research
in selecting and designing interventions
o Continues
research on up to date evidence biased behavioral interventions
Share and collaborate with other school personal
when interventions are effective Attend mandated CPS trainings
in order to stay with compliance laws
Formulate practical strategies to measure impact
of practice interventions on student outcomes based on prior-identified goals.
IdentifY crisis intervention techniques for students and other school clients in acute distress
o
De-escalation techniques, rapid assessment strategies
o Serve the role of the Gatekeeper
and assess students
who may have suicidal ideation
• Serve as the liaison between Chicago
Public Schools crisis unit, SASS,
and
the parents
Fulfill role of the mandated reporter
and investigate and report all incidents of child abuse and neglect to Department
of Family and Child Services
Serve as a liaison
between homes, schools,
hospitals, social welfare agencies, therapists,
alternative schools, and others as needed
Provide an up-to-date list of community
resources and support
for parents Expand knowledge in areas related to the job role as Social Worker (including
technology applications) by such means as reading
current literature on students with

special education needs, attending
professional conferences and workshops, and collaborate with other professionals doing similar work.
Maintains appropriate progress
notes for special education students
Keep docwnentation of services for intervention relating to students
in RTI and general educations students
Docwnent all crisis interventions including
all DCFS reports and SASS reports
Participates in 504 meetings
o Interviews and consults
with teachers in regards to the progress for students
with
504's
Prepares for all Individual

Attends all annual IEP meetings
