POSITION SUMMARY: The individual hired for this position should expect to work with colleagues and business professionals in the marketing, business, and information technology areas. This candidate will also be responsible for starting a DECA student chapter at Skyline. The teacher will teach marketing theory, workplace skills, salesmanship, economics, promotion, distribution, general business skills, computer programs related to business, finance, and beginning accounting procedures. They will teach key technology applications, like information management systems, graphics, and web design to connect local and global markets through business planning, management, marketing, and advertising. The individual will develop and coordinate workplace-learning partnerships in the community and provide individual student support services for those needing work or occupational guidance. This person will visit and inspect student-training stations and manage student records to maintain program regulatory compliance.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Michigan secondary teaching certificate with major in marketing/business education. GX ( Business Education Certification) and GM (Marketing Education Certification) or GQ (Business, Management, Marketing & Technology VD or VM (Vocational Marketing Endorsement) Occupational Education Certification in Marketing (Formerly Full Vocational Authorization) ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Prior business & marketing education teaching experience Prior school store experience Knowledge of child labor laws Prior DECA chapter advisor experience
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations Communicate effectively and present information both in oral and in written form
REASONING ABILITY: Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Interpret an extensive variety of statistical information and data related to student achievement. OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Interact with public and other staff as required. Apply knowledge of current replicated research and techniques related to sensory issues.
