ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:   Other duties may be assigned

 

·                Works with small groups of students or individual students under the direct supervision of the teacher

·                Performs other miscellaneous tasks that support student achievement

·                Manages and instructs students on appropriate behavior using positive behavior support strategies consistent with Board policy and procedures

·                Helps maintain instructional area, supplies, equipment and facilities in a clean/safe condition 

·                Assists teachers and support staff in preparing materials, housekeeping, record keeping and data collection relative to student progress

·                Will accompany, train and supervise students at off-site Nursing Centers and hospitals

·                Participates in special instructional activities to meet program and student goals

·                Maintain confidentiality

·                Follows established policies/procedures re student medical concerns, safety, student rights, emergency/disaster plans, and so forth

·                Regular and predictable attendance

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

 

·                High school diploma or equivalent

·                Graduate of a recognized nurses training program

·                Possess current Registered Nurse license (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse license (LPN)

·                Two years recent related work experience in a hospital and/or nursing home

·                Documented geriatric care experience preferred

·                Must possess or be eligible for Train-the-Trainer Certification for CNA clinical skills supervision

·                Possess other specific qualifications appropriate to the program area

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:       

           

·                Must be eligible to work in the United States

·                Ability and willingness to coordinate multiple clinical skills sites for student involvement

·                Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos

·                Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing

·                Ability to understand and carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form

·                Ability to work with special needs students in program adaptation

·                Ability to maintain composure under stressful conditions

·                Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community

·                Must have essential technology skills, i.e. skilled at using PC computer, laptop, assistive communication devices/technology and other educational technology and software

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:   The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

 

This person must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time and must be able to move about the classroom, building, etc. as needed.  This person must be able to communicate with students, parents, other teachers and administrators and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.  The employee may need to travel to different work locations.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:   The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

 

The employee is frequently required to interact with students, staff and occasionally with the public.  At times the employee may be directly responsible for the safety and well-being of students.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

The hours worked are 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m., Monday and Wednesday, during the school year.  Compensation is $21.92 per hour.

 

EVALUATION:

Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Building Administrator with input from the employee's supervisor.
