QUALIFICATION

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Other duties may be
assigned

Works with small groups of students or individual students under
the direct supervision of the teacher
·
Performs other miscellaneous tasks that support student
achievement
·
Manages and instructs students on appropriate behavior using
positive behavior support strategies consistent with Board policy
and procedures
·
Assists in curriculum and menu development
·
Organizes work station to provide learning experiences for a
variety of students and production levels
·
Demonstrates skill that shows classical as well as current food
production techniques
·
Ability to produce a variety of international recipes and
menus
·
Helps maintain instructional area, supplies, equipment and
facilities in a clean/safe condition
·
Assists teachers and support staff in preparing materials,
housekeeping, record keeping and data collection relative to
student progress
·
Participates in special instructional activities to meet program
and student goals (e.g. pre-vocational training, transitioning to
adult literacy, etc.)
·
Ability to demonstrate skills in bakery, pastry and cake
decoration techniques
·
Maintains confidentiality
·
Follows established policies/procedures re: student medical
concerns, safety, student rights, emergency/disaster plans, and
so forth
·
Regular and predictable attendance
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
·
High school diploma or equivalent
·
American Culinary Federation Certification at the CPC level is
preferred
·
Banquet experience or volume production
·
Menu and recipe development experience
·
Previous instruction, assistant to instructor, trainer, or
seminar/workshop presentation experience
·
Participation in an ACF approved Culinary Salon or other artistic
accomplishments preferred
·
Must have ServSafe certification
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Must be eligible to work in the United States
·
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short
correspondence, and memos
·
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in
writing
·
Ability to understand and carry out instructions furnished in
written or oral form
·
Ability to work with special needs students in program
adaptation
·
Ability to maintain composure under stressful conditions
·
Ability to develop effective working relationships with students,
staff and the school community
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those
that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the
essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is
regularly required to move about the building.
The employee is frequently required to operate kitchen equipment
including commercial kitchen tools.
This person will be required to communicate with students and
customers and must be able to exchange accurate information in
these situations.
This person must be able to distinguish and detect different
flavors and smells when working with students in the culinary
program.
This employee will engage in physical management with students in
order to maintain a safe environment for students and others.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics described here are
representative of those an employee encounters while performing
the essential functions of this job.
The noise level is the work environment is usually moderate to
loud.
The employee is frequently required to interact with students,
staff and occasionally with the public.
The employee may be required to work outside and/or accompany a
student to a different location.
At times, the employee may be directly responsible for the safety
and well-being of students.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
The work year is determined by the number of days students are
in attendance during the regular school calendar and/or specific
program needs.
The work days for this position are Monday and Wednesday, 4:00
p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
The hourly rate is based on the WWAP Collective Bargaining
Agreement.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Building
Administrator with input from the employee's supervisor.
