Description:  This secretarial position is responsible for supporting Gauger Middle School

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Demonstrates good attendance record
  • Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills
  • One year of any combination of secretarial level work experience and/or business school training
  • Demonstrates ability to comprehend simple instructions and to exercise good judgment in standard situations
  • Demonstrates ability to make decisions and work under pressure
  • Ability to apply basic office procedure knowledge
  • Ability to use a computer and utilize various software applications
  • Ability to coordinate workload to meet established schedules/deadlines
  • Ability to exercise tact, discretion and confidentiality with a pleasant cooperative attitude
  • Possesses the ability to lift 50 pounds (with assistance)
  • Must be able to use arms and hands
  • Must report to work on time every work day, except as afforded by existing law
  • Must perform all duties as assigned during scheduled work day
  • Test Performance Standards:
    • Typing:  45 wpm
    • Math:  62% success rate
    • Proofreading:  60% success rate

Duties:

  • Perform word processing (i.e., correspondence, labels, reports, rosters)
  • Compose correspondence as requested

  • Schedule appointments

  • Receptionist duties

  • Maintain logs and records

  • Order, maintain inventories and distribute office and instructional supplies and equipment

  • Operate appropriate office equipment

  • Assume responsibility for duties involved with staff/student attendance entry and retrieving reports (if required by assignment)

  • Assume responsibility for September 30<sup>th</sup> count (if required by assignment)

  • Responsible for tasks involved with student registration, withdrawal, transportation information and data input

  • Input and verify data in the computer system to update records and data bases

  • Assist in receiving and counting money (if required by assignment)

  • Maintain records of cash receipts and disbursements (if required by assignment)

  • Use discretion and confidentiality in performance of duties

  • Develop knowledge of District policy and procedures

  • Sort, prioritize and distribute mail and other forms of communication

  • Perform other related tasks and assume other related responsibilities as assigned

Starting Date:    As soon as possible

Salary Range:    Commensurate with appropriate salary schedule
