Position Title:   Chief Secondary School Officer

Serves on Superintendent's Instructional Leadership Team/Cabinet.  Provides leadership and coordination for secondary curricular, assessment, and instructional programs including academic and co-curricular areas.

 

Essential Functions:

·         Supervise, monitor, and evaluate the performance of school principals and other office personnel;

·         Provide leadership in planning, developing, implementing, and supervising quality, research-based instructional programs;

·         Assist principals with setting bold, measurable and achievable goals for secondary school focused on student academic growth, and holds them accountable for achievement of these goals;

·         Represent the superintendent of schools as an official of the district.   Communicate district's initiatives and strategies for increasing student achievement and promoting the district as a whole;

·         Define critical issues, identify resource requirements, and set bold, measurable and achievable goals focused on student academic growth;

·         Communicate effectively with board members, administrators, teachers, students, parents, community members, and business partners;

·         Assist the superintendent of schools in formulating and recommending policies and goals for the operation of the district;

·         Assist the superintendent of schools with special studies, projects, investigations, and correspondence;

·         Assist principals with resource allocations that allow schools to excel instructionally and execute district initiatives;

·         Collaborate with and counsel principals on working with their surrounding communities and other publics;

·         Ensure compliance of schools with all pertinent federal and state regulations and requirements related to various data and operational regulations;

·         Provide leadership for school-based secondary school instructional/graduation coaching teams that provide content-specific, technological, and pedagogical support for secondary teachers;

·          Lead implementation of policies, procedures, and program needs to comply with Dignity for All Students Act;

·         Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of the district's Code of Conduct;

·         Plan, develop and supervise all aspects of district summer programs for secondary students;

·         Ability to understand and interpret complex oral and written instructions;

·         Proven ability to exhibit exceptional level of professionalism, tact, and courtesy, especially when working with the public;

·         Proven ability to interact effectively with students and their families who represent cultures that are diverse in terms of race, class, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and other characteristics in order to build an effective and collaborative school community;

·         Ability to consistently perform with a high degree of accuracy; and to independently solve complex issues commensurate with the position;

·         Ability to work long hours, including evenings, nights and weekends; and,

·         Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Education and Experience:

Five years of successful leadership experience as a principal or in another related field.  Leadership experience in both elementary and secondary schools is preferred.  Thorough knowledge of ICSD Board policy and procedures; working knowledge of federal and New York State Department of Education policies and procedures.  Possession of New York State certification as a School District Administrator or School District Leader.

Salary Range:     $120,000 - $140,000
