PERFORMANCE
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Curriculum
·
Plan and implement the high school
counseling curriculum as developed through the comprehensive
guidance and counseling plan for the Salem School
District.
·
Act as a resource for teachers to
facilitate the integration of guidance activities into the
regular curriculum
·
Develop understanding of the master
schedule and scheduling process in order to best accommodate
student and faculty needs
Responsive Services
·
Counsel students individually and in
small groups in order to address issues interfering with academic
success
·
Provide crisis intervention services
for students as needed
·
Provide assessment and referrals for
students to appropriate school and community resources
·
Confer with parents, teachers, and
administrators
Individual Planning
·
Guide groups and individual students
through the development of educational and career plans
·
Interpret test results (interest,
aptitude and achievement) as they pertain to academic and career
planning
·
Maintain an up-to-date library of
career and educational options
·
Work as part of student services
teams to resolve students' educational challenges
System Support
·
Maintain professional competency
through adherence to standards set forth by governing
organizations in the field of School Counseling (ASCA,
NEACAC).
·
Plan, implement and evaluate
district guidance and counseling programs
·
Consult with teachers, staff and
parents regarding the developmental needs of students
·
Pursue professional growth and
development opportunities
·
Take an active role in interpreting
the school's objectives to students, parents and the
community
·
Assist in the coordination of
standardized and group testing programs
·
Serve as a member of school and
district committees
