The School District of Washington has a full time opening for a Social Worker for the 2012-2013 school year. This position will be .5 FTE at Early Childhood Special Education, and .5 FTE District Wide. Please read below for a description of duties and requirements.

Summary
To provide a comprehensive student and family support services. This particular position is designed to serve IDEA eligible students and their families or those students and families receiving early intervening services (EIS) through special services.
The goals and objectives consist of three major components including 1) social services, 2) family outreach and support, and 3) community resource coordination. The School District of Washington is seeking an individual to fill this position who can assist in improving student attendance, reduce drop-out, increase student esteem and connection to the school community, improve opportunities for students to be academically successful, improve the relationship between home and school and in some cases student and home, and provide direct social services within the school day.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
An individual who holds this position is required to:
- Provide individual and group counseling, both personal and academic, which is above that typically provided by a school guidance counselor.
- Maintain records to be turned in to special services for reporting purposes.
- Communicate with parents on a regular basis regarding student expectations and progress.
- Coordinate and keep record of services extended to students and their families.
- Consult with multiple stakeholders involved in the student’s education.
- Regular monitoring of caseload students including discipline, attendance, and academic progress.
- Complete home visits when necessary.
- Provide opportunities for students to connect to the school community, build self esteem, and grow educationally.
- Assist stakeholder teams including parents better understand the specific needs of the student.
- Assist families of identified student in securing community services.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by administrator related to comprehensive educational programming.
Supervisory Duties
Assist in the supervision of students in the counseling area and school building.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor degree or higher in social work
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Master Social Worker, or equivalent
Skills and Abilities
Language

· Read, analyze, and interpret general periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
· Write reports, correspondence, and procedure manuals consistent with the duties of this position.
