  Description:
  • Ensure students have access to books and materials needed for school assignments and research
  • Shelve and maintain books and materials
  • Assist with the supply of books and materials for promotional reading programs throughout the years
  • Ensure the physical upkeep of the media center is neat and organized, including straightening shelves, and arranging displays
  • Complete required paperwork including book orders and overdue/lost notices
  • Maintain a comprehensive and efficient system for cataloging all media center materials and instruct teachers and students on use of the system
  • Assist students in the skills related to reading, research, production of materials, and use of information technologies
  • Promote life-long learning by fostering positive attitudes toward libraries
  • Assist users in identifying, locating, and interpreting information
  • Promote appropriate conduct of students using media center facilities
  • Promote the library media program, services, and materials by maintaining a positive relationship with students, staff, and the community
  • Perform all other tasks as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Accredited Senior High School Diploma or equivalent (U.S.A. equivalency)
  • One year of general clerical experience; experience working with children in an academic setting a plus
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current literature, trends, methods, and developments in the area of media and instructional technology
  • Demonstrated ability to use common audio-visual materials
  • Demonstrated ability to provide instruction to foster literacy competence and stimulate interest in accessing, evaluating, and applying information and ideas
  • Demonstrated ability to work with educators to design learning to meet students’ literacy needs
  • Demonstrated ability to record and deliver information and explain procedures
  • Demonstrated strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills required to achieve the goals of the position
