Possess or have ability
to obtain Michigan Bus Driver Certification.
2.
Bachelor's degree
preferred.

Ability to articulate and
create a quality Transportation Department.

Possess
abilities/training in supervision, management, problem-solving,
and team building.
5.
Strong human relations
and communication skills to work effectively with students,
parents, staff, and general public.
6.
Excellent organizational
skills.
7.
Possess or have ability
to obtain MSBO/MAPT Certification
Job
Goal:
To manage and lead a quality transportation program, to
enable each student through safe, efficient bus service, the
opportunity to take full advantage of the complete range of
curricular and extra curricular activities offered by the
district's schools.
Performance
Responsibilities:
1.
Develops and administers
a transportation program to meet all the requirements of the
daily instructional program and extracurricular
activities.
2.
Conforms with all state
laws and regulations regarding school transportation.
3.
Maintains safety
standards in conformance with state and insurance regulations and
develops a program of preventive safety.
4.
Prepares bus routes and
maps for all public and non-public schools in the
district.
5.
Prepares and updates bus
schedules for all public and non-public schools in the
district.
6.
Cooperates with school
principals and others responsible for planning special school
trips.
7.
Coordinates a bus safety
and evacuation program to be presented annually to all
students.
8.
Advises Superintendent on
road hazards for decision on school closing during inclement
weather.
9.
Prepares and administers
the transportation budget in cooperation with the Assistant
Superintendent.
10.Authorizes purchases in
accordance with budgetary limitations and district
rules.
11.Approves and forwards
transportation service invoices to bookkeeping
department.
12.Provides transportation
payroll information on a bi-weekly basis.
13.Completes and dispatches
insurance reports.
14.Submits all reports
required by state authorities.
15.Takes an active role in development of
student bus rules and consequences.
Works directly with principals and assistant
principals regarding student discipline.
16.Acts as liaison with
parents for complaints and special requests.
17.Recruits, trains, and
supervises all transportation personnel, and makes
recommendations on their employment, transfer, promotion, and
release.

Provides an orientations
for all new employees regarding the Transportation Handbook and
State and Federal regulations regarding drug-free workplace and
random drug testing.
b.
Ensure that each driver
signs a statement certifying review of the district's drug-free
workplace policy.
19.Stimulates a spirit of high
morale, cooperation, enthusiasm, and positiveness among
transportation employees.
20.Prepares and reviews
annually employee procedures, policies, and
expectations.
21.Biannually, shall review in
writing the performance of all transportation
employees.
22.Organizes staff development
and in-service activities for the training and improvement of
employees.
23.Conducts regular staff
meetings for the purpose of effective communications and
employee input.
24.Develops among drivers a
customer service orientation toward students, parents, and
citizens.
25.Assists with preparing and
approving bids for school bus and vehicle purchases.
26.Manages a system of
preventive maintenance including regular maintenance of
vehicles and record keeping.
27.Attends workshops,
seminars, state and regional meetings, to keep abreast of
quality transportation program.
28.Responsible for public
relations activities including excellent communication
abilities with students, parents, staff, and citizens of the
community.
29.Prepares an annual
transportation report for presentation to the Board of
Education.
