Reason for New Assignment: Expand support to teachers, principals and students

 

Salary – will be determined based on experience ($59,836/year)

Duties & Responsibilities:  (Essential Functions of Position, Major Responsibilities, Summary of Key Duties, Special Assignments, Relationships)

·   Collect and analyze curriculum and intervention assessments PK-12 of both formative data used to inform instruction and summative data used to evaluate special education programs in the areas of reading, math, writing, behavior and other core content areas

·   Collect and analyze progress monitoring data to assist in improving reading, math, writing, and behavior achievement

·   Promote and assist with the identification of resources targeted toward PK-12 reading, math, writing, and behavior programs

·   Provide leadership and support for the development of quality programming in the area of reading, math, writing and behavior for students who are educationally disadvantaged and/or entitled to special education

·   Assist buildings with identifying solutions to unresolved programming and placemetn issues in the area of reading, math, writing, and behavior for special education students.

·   Provide support and collaborate with the Instructional Specialists in the development of district-wide academic programs

·   Design and implement professional development for all special education staff aligned to data-driven initiatives and the Comprehensive School Improvement Plan

·   Provide technical assistance for staff in the development of special education documents in the areas of reading, writing, math, and behavior that clearly meet state and federal guidelines

·   Meet with the supervisor to formulate policy and develop long-range plans

·   Assist in the evaluation of special education instructional personnel

·   Monitor and assist with the implementation of the PK-12 reading, math, writing, and behavior core curriculum for special education students

·   Ongoing instructional coaching and support for implementation and accountability of special education initiatives

·   Support special education teachers with the development of IEPs based on data analysis

·   Assist special education teachers with implementing core standards

·   Assist with parent advisory meeting and IEP meetings as needed

·   Assist Department of Exceptional Education with restructuring of program of services

·   Evaluator Approval Training

·   Reports to the Director of Exceptional Education

·   Other duties as assigned

·   Must be able to provide own transportation

·   Able to climb stairs

·   Must be able to stand, sit, stoop, bend, reach, and/or walk for extended periods

·   Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds


Special Qualification Desired:  (Personal Qualities, Education, Skills Needed, Experience, Etc.)

·   Certified Special Education Teacher

·   Masters Degree and/or Administrative Certification

·   Five years classroom experience with special education students

·   Expertise in curriculum development

·   Expertise in staff development

·   Expertise in facilitating adult groups and use of technology

·   Demonstrate expertise in programming for students requiring special education services

·   Reading endorsement preferred

·   Any alternative qualifications as determined appropriate and acceptable by the Superintendent
