DESCRIPTION:
The specific duties delineated below are
included as direct responsibilities of the professional
teacher.
This list is not to be viewed as all
inclusive but for all intent and purpose, should clarify the
general functioning level of the professional teacher.
The teacher is directly responsible to the director of special
education and director of educational services. The
duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
1.
Participate in building Student Assistance
Team meetings and determine student
intervention(s).
2.
Deliver research-based
interventions/curriculum to meet the needs of the
students.
3.
Inservice paraprofessionals, parents,
volunteers, and teachers on interventions to accomplish
behavioral and academic
objectives for
students.
4. C
ollaborate with classroom teachers,
paraprofessionals, parents, and building principal.
5.
Maintain data using technology software to
keep all progress monitoring current.
6.
Remain current with research-based
strategies and interventions.
7.
Participate in transitions from middle
school and sharing of assessment information
between building principals and staff.
8.
Maintain an educational environment that is
conducive to learning.
9.
Implement prescriptive programs within the
classroom with consultation of teacher
consultants, speech therapy, school
psychologist,
school
social worker, and/or other support
personnel.
10.
Submit all required reports, data, and
documentation in a timely manner.
11.
Serve as case-manager for students with IEPs
(coordinate IEP, MET, etc).
12.
Attend monthly staff meetings and monthly
special education meetings.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS REQUIRED:
1.
V
alid Michigan Teacher's Certificate with endorsement in special
education, Emotionally Impaired.
(In addition, candidates must meet
highly qualified criteria
depending
upon assignment.)
2. Must have demonstrated
three years successful teaching experience with students
eligible as
either learning disabled, emotionally
impaired,
or autism spectrum.
3.
Must have demonstrated knowledge and skill
of current research in the areas of literacy,
mathematics, interventions, assessment,
and
behavior supports/management.
Must occasionally lift items up to 50 lbs. and
must be physically able to frequently walk, sit,
push/pull,
bend, stoop, stand and climb.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Performance of this job will be
evaluated in accordance with the professional staff master
agreement.
