Description:  1:1 Special Education Aide


RANGE OF PAY: $11.48 - $13.43 per hour

 

Responsibilities:  Assist student with special needs in the classroom that may include behavioral and/or emotional needs, throughout the day with academics and daily school.  Will assist the student in following a strict schedule and maintaining his/her safety while school is in session.  Assist the teacher with miscellaneous classroom tasks.  Will aide the student and teacher to ensure success of the student in meeting his/her IEP goals.

 

Qualifications: Minimum of 30 hours of college credit or previous experience working with children with special needs.  MUST show a letter of approval as a paraprofessional issued through ROE, or hold a teaching certificate indicative of completion of at least a bachelor’s degree, or hold a provisional vocational certificate. Good written and oral communication skills, ability to communicate with all levels of staff, parents and student.  Basic math and computer skills as well as some general office skills are needed.  Knowledge and skill to physically support a child with gross and fine motor needs and experience working with children with social/emotional needs preferred.
