supervisor or director of student personnel services

Primary Function:
|
Serves as the administrative head of a school building
and assumes responsibility for the effective
administration and supervision of all activities within
that unit.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
1. General
Administrative/Supervisory Duties
A. Supervises the implementation of all
student related non-instructional programs.
B. Supervises all personnel utilized in
the implementation of school programs.
C. Prepares and submits accurate,
complete and timely reports as required by the central
office.
D. Develops and maintains procedures for
insuring the efficient and orderly operation of the school.
E. Participates in the ongoing
events of both the administrative team and curriculum team.
F. Delegates, where appropriate,
responsibilities to other administrators and support staff.
2. Recruitment, Recommendation and
Assignment of Personnel
A. Participates with central office staff
in the selection of new personnel.
B. Participates with central office staff
and peers in the assignment of in-district personnel.
3. Establishment and Maintenance of
Learning Climate
A. Promotes good motivational
techniques.
B. Recognizes the achievements of
students and faculty.
C. Maintains acceptable standards of
student conduct and enforces discipline as necessary, according
to due process to the rights of students.
D. Develops and maintains procedures for
insuring good attendance of students and staff.
E. Develops programs to maintain
morale of staff and students.
F. Maintains effective
communications with staff and students.
4. Evaluation of Professional
Staff
A. Evaluates, according to board policy
and administrative procedures, all certified personnel assigned
by the central office.
B. Makes annual recommendations to the
superintendent of schools concerning employment status.
5. Curriculum Development and
Improvement
A. Participates in curriculum
development.
B. Participates in the development of
inservice programs.
C. Provides leadership in curriculum
development and implementation.
6. Effective Use and Maintenance of
the School Plant
A. Assures the operational efficiency of
the building equipment and operations (heating, lighting,
ventilation).
B. Assures that building and grounds are
safe, clean and sanitary.
7. Preparation and Administration
of School Budget
A. Plans and develops annual building
budget requests with involvement of school personnel to reflect
school needs.
B. Utilizes established policies and
procedures in purchasing and obtaining needed goods and
services.
C. Stays within approved budget
allocations.
D. Submits capital improvement program
needs as requested by superintendent of schools.
8. Establishment and Maintenance of
a Public Relations Program
A. Provides effective communications with
parents and the community at large.
B. Encourages and provides activities for
community involvement.
C. Conducts appropriate group meetings to
interpret school programs to the community.
9. Professional Growth
Activities
A. Attends and participates in
professional meetings.
B. Stays abreast of developments within
the profession by reading professional literature.
C. Encourages staff participation in
professional growth activities.
10. Legal Aspects of School Operation
A. Knows, understands and implements
state laws, rules and regulations, policies of the board of
education, negotiated agreements and approved administrative
procedures.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: In accordance with the negotiated
agreement.
EVALUATION: In accordance with board of education policy
and the negotiated agreement.
