POSITION SUMMARY
:
To assist classroom teachers in providing individualized and/or
small group instruction to students.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
:
Under the direction and supervision of the classroom teacher, the
classroom aide assists the teacher in the classroom:
1.
Provide individual
help and assistance to students as requested
2.
Reinforce learning
objectives to small groups of students or individuals.
3.
Supervise the
independent study of students.
4.
Collect and
organize teaching materials for the classroom teacher as
needed.
5.
Assist in monitoring
students during special school events.
6.
Supervise outdoor
recess periods and bus supervision as assigned and enforce
expectations for student behavior.
7.
Perform other
tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
PHYSICAL CONTEXT OF THE
JOB:
This job may require the following:
spending a portion of each day outdoors on the playground in a
variety of weather conditions; occasional lifting of weights up
to 50 lbs.; able to walk and stand for extended periods of
time.
GENERAL COMMENTS:
This job entails working with students in classroom and campus
settings.
