Description:

Develops and implements academic and enrichment activities for children participating in the ACES After School program; assists students in improving academic skills and reaching performance goals; establishes cooperative and effective working relationships with children and adults; creates an attractive and safe learning environment; maintains necessary records and files relating to the program; utilizes appropriate supplies, materials and equipment for the program; maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about children; participates in staff development activities; may be designated to assist identified pupils in the provision of specialized physical health care services; may be designated to assist identified pupils with personal requirements including eating and bathroom needs; performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications:
High school graduation or equivalent required; must have graduated from a California public high school after January 1981 or receive a satisfactory score on the Instructional Aide proficiency test given by Bakersfield Adult School; must meet NCLB requirements in one of the following ways: Possess a minimum of AA college degree, Successful completion of at least 48 college semester units or Pass the District’s screening test (CODESP) with a minimum score of 70%.

Experience working with children and college course work in child development or liberal studies is desired but not required.

The CODESP screening test will be given once a month from 1:00 - 4:00 in the District Board Room.  Contact the Personnel Department to reserve a space if you need this test to meet NCLB requirements. Please be prompt.

Working Conditions: 
Afterschool hours, 3.75-4.75 hours per day, five (5) days per week.

Salary and Terms of Service:
Salary range (11) $10.53 - $13.96 per hour, eight (8) steps, 3.75-4.75 hours per day, five (5) days per week. Holidays, sick leave and vacation benefits.

Selection Procedure:
Selected applicants will be scheduled for interviews at the Panama-Buena Vista Union School District Office, 4200 Ashe Road. Should a candidate be scheduled for an interview, it is his/her responsibility to inform the district during the interview process if he/she has a problem in meeting the requirements of evening hours. If after interviews suitable applicants are not found, the search will continue. As required by California State Law should you be employed by the District, your fingerprints will be taken and submitted to the Justice Department and the FBI for a background check. Processing fee will be at applicant's expense.
