Duties & Responsibilities:  (Essential Functions of Position, Major Responsibilities, Summary of Key Duties, Special Assignments, Relationships)

·   New Hires: Entray Level Rate $9.69/hr. Current employees with seniority in the bargaining unit; please refer to the Salary Schedule established by the applicable bargaining unit.

·   A desire and ability to accept, motivate and relate to students of differing ability levels and background.

·   Ability to relate and cooperate with other staff members.

·   Ability to assist teachers in performing clerical duties.

·   Flexibility in dealing with various job responsibilities and student learning issues.

·   Ability to supervise in different settings (hallway, cafeteria, Skills room, etc.)  throughout the school day.

·   Ability to monitor student work completion.

·   Willingness to work with students to de-escalate behavior.

·   Ability to assist in the media center

·   Ability to assist with organizing, assigning, and inventorying building technology

·   Other duties as assigned by teacher and or administrator.


Physical Requirements of Position:  (HBV   Yes   No)

·   Must be able to go up and down stairs.  Smart is a 3 level building.


Special Qualification Desired:  (Personal Qualities, Education, Skills Needed, Experience, Etc.)

·   Ability to and enjoy working with intermediate school age students.

·   Function well as a member of a team

·   Must meet Title I Requirements: Must have High School Diploma, AND two years of study in post-secondary institution. OR obtained an

·   Associate or higher degree OR successfully complete the following scores on the Compass Test: Reading-80, Writing -70, Math-43 OR successfully completed the Iowa Paraprofessional classes and obtained the Iowa Paraprofessional Certification
