  I.               TITLE:    Programmer/Software Support Specialist

 

II.            QUALIFICATIONS:

 

A.            Four-year degree is strongly preferred along with 3 to 5 years of experience.

B.            Ability to work with staff, students, and the public.

C.            Strong verbal and written communication skills.

D.            Strong organizational skills.

E.             Experiences in most or all of the following is preferred:

 

1.       Skyward System administration (or other fiscal accounting/human resources system), configuration and operation (2 years or more).

2.       General knowledge of business department procedures & practices.

3.       Crystal Reports, Microsoft Access, etc.

4.       Laserfiche or other Document Archival System.

5.       Idaho System for Educational Excellence (I.S.E.E.) data generation and submission.

6.       HTML, CSS, XML

7.       Various APIs, SDKs

8.       Database administration/queries: Progress, Oracle 10g, SQL, Access, FileMaker

9.       Server/desktop OS: Win XP, 7, Windows Server 2008, Mac OS 10.X

10.   Systems integration

11.   Systems analysis

12.   Various application software: MS Office, etc.

F.       Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

 

III.          REPORTS TO:   Director of Technology

 

IV.         JOB GOALS:

 

         To support the delivery of School District 91's written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement.

 

         To assist in the administration, customization and integration of the district's administrative data applications in support of data-driven decision-making and provide training and support to appropriate district staff.

 

V.            ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

A.            Works in close collaboration with other technology personnel in a team approach to support of district data systems.

B.            Develops custom queries and reports of district administrative system (financial, payroll, etc) data utilizing Crystal Reports, MS Access, SQL, HTML and various other tools for on-screen and print presentation.

C.            Facilitates data transformation, transfer and validation within and between administrative data systems.

D.            Trains and supports district staff in the use of administrative data systems functionality including data analysis and reporting functionality.

E.             Collects, prepares and submits data required for district and state reporting including I.S.E.E.

F.             Develops procedural and training documentation and materials.

G.            Assists with database management tasks in order to maximize system availability and performance.

H.            Manages server configuration and resources supporting administrative data systems under the direction of the Systems Administrator.

I.               Assists with administrative software and hardware evaluations & recommendations.

J.              Maintains familiarity with system operations of the technology center in order to provide backup to other technology center staff.

K.            Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality.

L.             Has regular and predictable attendance.

 

VI.         OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

A.            Performs all other duties as assigned.

 

II.            TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

 

        This position is scheduled for 8 hours per day, 245 days per year.   Benefits will be in accordance with approved Board policy.   Wages will be in accordance with the Classified Salary Schedule as a Grade 13 - $18.55 or $19.47 per hour depending on experience.

 

        This is an "at will" position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time or for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law.   The "employment at will" policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and expressly approved by the Board of Trustees of District 91.

 

III.          EVALUATION:

 

         Performance of this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on the evaluation of classified personnel.

        

            This position has been given an overall physical classification of light duty.
