QUALIFICATIONS:
This position requires knowledge of proper English usage and
grammar; pertinent academic areas and learning situations;
general needs and behaviors of high school students.
Must possess
the skill to demonstrate a consistent and understanding attitude
toward students; appropriately and positively manage student
health needs and behaviors; understand and carry out both oral
and written instructions in an independent manner; establish and
maintain cooperative and effective work
relationships/communication with those contacted in the
performance of required duties.
Must possess
the ability to perform specialized physical health care
procedures including but not limited to ventilator use,
suctioning, tube feeding, colostomy and catheterization care,
oxygen administration, diabetic care and insulin management;
administer first aid and emergency care as needed; monitor and
assist students with taking medication; maintain documentation of
health care services; update and maintain medical records and
prepare reports as required; assist in establishing and
maintaining a clean, safe and pleasant learning environment;
assist in lifting, moving and positioning students as necessary
to render various forms of personal care which may include but
are not limited to feeding, dressing, grooming, toileting,
diapering, therapy, and specialized health care procedures; be
flexible and receptive to change; utilize a variety of methods,
procedures, and equipment commonly used in nursing and
specialized health care procedures; maintain current knowledge of
skills and techniques related to
position; attend training sessions, and other in-service
activities as directed by Manager of Special Education; maintain
confidentiality of student records in accordance with District
and legal requirements; attend 504 and IEP meeting as needed;
meet the physical requirements necessary to safely and
effectively perform the required duties.
Possession of a valid
Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) or equivalent license and
CPR/First-Aid certification is required.
One year of work
experience in an LVN position.
MUST POSSESS AND
MAINTAIN A VALID CALIFORNIA DRIVER'S LICENSE.
LVN WILL RECEIVE ON THE
JOB TRAINING TO MAINTAIN COMPETENCY LEVELS
.
A PRE-PLACEMENT MEDICAL
ASSESSMENT AND CRIMINAL HISTORY CHECK WILL BE REQUIRED OF THE
SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT.
DUTIES OF POSITION:
Performs nursing/medical treatments and
procedures necessary in providing specialized physical health
care services to pupils with exceptional needs and serves as an
assistant as assigned.
Under direction of teacher or other
appropriate staff assists in individual or small group
instruction; assist students in a variety of instructional,
recreational, health and personal activities as
assigned.
STARTING SALARY:
$2,108.57 (monthly)
