POSITION:    Resource Coach - Breakthrough Magnet School

 

REPORTS TO:              Principal

                       

PRIMARY FUNCTION:   The Resource Coach will instruct READ180 or other school reading programs, math intervention tutoring and technology skills to below proficient students in Gr. 3-8.  Coordinating and assisting the instructional staff in the integration of arts, sciences and character themes into Reader's Workshop instruction. Support curriculum specialist in student assessment and teacher support in regular education instruction and other instructional duties as deemed needed by the principal

 

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

·         A valid CT teaching certificate 

·         A minimum of two years successful teaching experience in literacy and/or math 

·         Proven experience and knowledge in character education

·         The ability to develop and identify theme based units, which are interdisciplinary in nature. 

·         The ability to identify texts for theme based projects in each core area. 

·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·         Ability to work with individuals, small groups, in a collegial team approach 

·         Ability to communicate with and motivate teachers and other staff in a collegial and collaborative manner 

·         Ability to work independently with good organizational skills and the ability to be flexible and handle changing priorities 

·         Ability to handle stressful situations and work within difficult time constraints 

·         Proven ability to work efficiently and collaboratively with school administration, school staff, School Governance Council and community members 

·          

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:   Connecticut Teacher Certification  

 

SALARY AND TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT :  Salary Grid:  in accordance with Hartford Federation of Teachers Bargaining Agreement Appendix E.  Extended day 8% and extended year 16% (25 Additional Work Days) opportunities available, subject to available funding.
