*Limited Two-Year Position with School Improvement Grant Funding.  Year 2 position is contingent upon satisfactory progress in Year 1.

Overview:

Seeking energetic and committed 9<SUP>th</SUP> grade counselor with prior experience providing case management and mental health services to high school students as a part of the newly created Freshman Academy. 
 
1.      Counsel with Students and/or Families in response to failing course work, poor DCAS scores, behavioral difficulties, etc.
 
2.      Develop and oversee implementation of intervention/support plans designed to improve student achievement, behavior and/or social & emotional well-being
 
3.      Provide crisis intervention and limited mental health services to students and /or families
 
4.      Provide leadership for the First Year Success Team which includes home visits and monitoring/follow up of 100 at-risk students entering Dover High School
 
5.      Provide on-going case management services for students and/or families and serve as a liaison between home, school, and community agencies.
 
6.      Work on a team with administration, school counselors, teachers, behavioral specialist, attendance personnel, and others in order to provide appropriate services to enhance the achievement of students
 
7.      Work collaboratively with school staff in resolving crisis situations and limiting the amount of time a child is out of school
 
8.      Maintain sufficient written records of services including the use of i-tracker
 
9.      Success will be measured by:  student success in classes, students on track for graduation, growth on DCAS and fewer discipline issues.

Qualification:

1.      Master’s Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, School Counseling or comparable degree
2.      Minimum of 3 years of experience working with high-school age students and their families
3.      Willingness to work additional hours in the summer and evenings as needed to accomplish the job
