Illinois Certification Type 10 Special Type 03 with LBS1 Endorsement Knowledge of "Teach" Philosophy Knowledge of Behavior Management and Data *Collection for Autism students *Knowledge of Best Practices for students with Autism Master's Degree preferred Minimum of 5 years experience teaching Special Education Competency in the provision of professional development activities and consultative services to general education and special education staffs Familiarity with district curriculum, course outlines, curriculum guides and texts used in the district Capabilities in leadership, public and community relations, and academic competence Must be NCLB Highly Qualified RESPONSIBILITIES: In collaboration with Special Services Department, organize and implement staff development activities for Special Education staff based on district curriculum, assessments and school improvement plans. Make recommendations to Principals, Program Coordinators and teachers for improvement of instruction in Special Education programs. Monitor implementation of teaching strategies presented in District workshops and other district-wide educational initiatives. Assist Principals and Program Coordinators in assessing the implementation of the instructional programs in Special Education classrooms and identifying the areas in need of improvement. Identify needs and recommend changes/improvements to the curriculum to the Director of Curriculum.
