Jefferson Edison has a 7
hour student day and has a 5 days longer school
year.
A Jefferson Edison
teacher must:
*Be trained in the SIOP
(Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol)
*Be successful
*Have demonstrated success
in working with diverse student and parent
populations
*Be trained in ESL
Teaching Strategies
*Participate in continuous
professional development activities provided by Edison
trainers
*Teach the full Jefferson
Edison curriculum
*Participate regularly in
"on site research"
*Participate regularly and
be skilled in administering District and Edison
assessments
*Have competency in using
Excel to disaggregate montly on-line Benchmarks
assessments in reading, language arts, and
science
*Have competency with
computers and all technology skills
*Provide modifications for
special needs students and be willing to work with full
inclusion students
*Use effective classroom
management skills
*Participate in a
site-based managed school (policies, budget, data
gathering, etc.)
*Participate as a
contributing member of a House Team
*Accept other duties as
assigned by principal
