Job Qualifications:

Minimum Master's Degree, higher degree preferred, with a major in education. All applicants must possess or be eligible for appropriate Georgia Leadership Certification in the area of Educational Leadership. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to organize programs, personnel and activities required for productive learning in the school. Ability to relate to a wide variety of people and to observe, listen, motivate, make decisions, and provide leadership which results in the best environment. Ability to manage financial materials and human resources effectively.
Job Description:

Serve as the instructional and organizational leader of the school.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Set the general tone of the school; coordinate parent groups such as P.T.S.A. and the School Advisory Committee; represent the school to the community at large.

Work with the assistant principal, counselors and faculty to establish and maintain an educational program consistent with the system's philosophy, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.

Prepare budgets for the general school account; approve and supervise all expenditures within the school--sign checks, vouchers and purchase orders.

The principal is responsible for the financial solvency of the school.

Interview, recommend employment, supervise and evaluate all school personnel.

Establish rules and regulations for proper student conduct that are consistent with the policies of the Board; maintain student discipline.

Assess the strengths of the school, identify its weaknesses, and take supportive or corrective action as the situation demands; make five-year projections for periodic evaluations, defining goals and redefining objectives commensurate with changes in the school population.

Oversee maintenance of the school, facility and grounds, and general upkeep of the school plant.

Maintain professional growth through reading, participation in professional organizations and/or activities

Other responsibilities as directed by the Area Superintendent and/or Superintendent.
Required Experience:
- Minimum of one (1) year successful experience in public school administration and/or supervision. Appropriate school level (elementary, middle, high) experience strongly preferred. Minimum of five (5) years successful certified school experience (classroom teacher at the appropriate school level preferred).
