Salary Range: $36,225 - $50,968
Description:
The Reading/Math Strategies position is intended to provide support for students who struggle with reading fluency/comprehension and/or math in sixth, seventh or eighth grade. The classes are based on the needs of the students across the grade levels. For reading classes, the teacher will be required to assess students, analyze data, create and implement programs that develop fluency and comprehension, monitor growth, and adjust instruction appropriately. For math classes, the instructor will develop fluency and operational skills as well as provide additional support for homework. Close communication with core teachers and parents is necessary.
Qualifications:
The ability to diagnose learning challenges and develop strategies to help students who struggle with reading and/or math is necessary. Previous successful experience working with students who have had difficulty with reading and/or math is desired. The ability to work collaboratively with other staff to align support and strategies is necessary. Also needed is the ability to articulate the needs and potential strategies attending to those needs. Candidates must have a Montana K-8 or reading/math certification.
Working Conditions:
The position involves working with students in grades 6-8 and collaborating with the core teachers of each grade level.
