The following job has been declared open by Montabella Community
Schools. It is intended that the opening be filled by
promotion, transfer, or new employee.
TITLE: Jr./Sr. HIGH GUIDANCE COUNSELOR
QUALIFICATION:
· M.A. in
Guidance and Counseling from an accredited college or
university
· 3-5 years of
teaching experience
· Such
alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of
Education may find appropriate and acceptable
REPORT TO: BUILDING PRINCIPAL
Primary Function
To provide, as a member of the guidance department staff, a
comprehensive guidance program for students in grades 7-12 and
specifically provide activities to meet the needs of their
assigned case-load; consult with teachers, staff and parents to
enhance their effectiveness in helping students; and provide
support to other educational programs.
Major Job Responsibilities
· Implement the
middle school and high school guidance curriculum
· Guide and
counsel groups and/or individual students through the development
of educational career plans
· Counsel small
groups and individual students concerned with personal,
educational and family issues
· Consult with
teachers, staff and parents regarding the developmental needs of
students
· Refer students
with severe problems to appropriate resources
· Participate in,
coordinate or conduct activities which contribute to the
effective growth and development of the school
· Evaluate and
revise the building guidance program
· Pursue
professional growth
· Assist with
district, state and federal testing
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: per the Master Contract
