Job Summary: Under the direction of the Senior VP, Induction Programs, the Program Consultant serves as a lead for professional development and consultation to NTC client programs focused on accelerating the development of new teachers and/or new principals; delivers face-to-face and/or online professional development for mentors, principals, and/or district stakeholders; supports the development of new co-presenters; contributes to the design, development, and refinement of NTC's products and services.
Responsibilities & Essential Functions: The following is an overview of the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. The employee may perform other duties as required.
- Advocate for and support client program leaders in implementing comprehensive induction programs aligned with the NTC Theory of Action and Induction Program Standards
- Provide technical assistance and consultation to clients around program implementation
- Lead and present professional development to mentors, principal coaches, and/or school leaders
- Initiate scopes of work for continuing clients
- Coach and support development of new co-presenters
- Develop materials that support client's long and short-term goals
- Collaborate with NTC staff to order and produce materials for a variety of NTC professional development
- Monitor client program's progress utilizing a formative program assessment process
- Communicate regularly with supervisor regarding each client program's progress and strategic support in alignment with the contracted scope of work
- Coordinate with impact team and client to develop, monitor and analyze data of implementation and impact
- Participate in NTC staff meetings, work teams, symposium, and other collaborative opportunities
- Contribute to the design of professional development products and services for NTC
- Develop professional conference and/or symposium proposals and conduct presentations
- Remain current with professional readings and research
- May supervise employees: includes assisting in recruitment of these positions, providing employee orientation, managing/prioritizing workload, providing training and coaching and participating in regular on-going employee development meetings, overall performance management and succession planning
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree required; Masters degree preferred
- Minimum 5 years teaching K-12
- Must have previously served as an Associate Program Consultant or had equivalent leadership experience at school or district level
- Valid teaching and/or administrative certificate/licensure
- Knowledge of NTC's approach to new teacher and principal development, Theory of Action, induction standards, tools and protocols, and services
- Knowledge of professional teaching and/or administrative standards, content materials, assessment and methods that improve student achievement in core standard areas
- Foundational knowledge of Common Core standards
- Knowledge and experience designing professional development
- Experience in peer coaching
- Ability to develop and write professional publications, training materials, grants and reports
- Ability to manage complex programs involving multiple participants
- Ability to manage one's time and productivity in a fluid, team oriented work environment with a high level of initiative, creativity and flexibility
- Ability to collaborate with NTC personnel to assess and improve client services using innovative and effective approaches
- Demonstrate ability to develop strong relationships and work well within districts and NTC
- Reflective practitioner demonstrating the ability to use feedback to improve self, program and community
- Knowledge of school reform, professional learning communities, and the impact of coaching
- Knowledge of adult learning theories and practices
- Willingness to travel based on location/client or project assignments
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
- General knowledge of Google Apps, Adobe Acrobat, virtual meeting software and experience with assessment data desirable
- Successful completion of and experience facilitating NTC Mentor Academies 1- 8 and Presenters Academy preferred
- Experience with NTC program implementation preferred
ADA Requirements/Workplace Conditions:
- Work normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment
- Limited physical effort required
- May have substantial national travel based on office location/client assignments
- Requires a valid driver's license
- Ability to type a minimum of 40 wpm
- Driving, grasping, hearing, repetitive hand motions, lifting under 50 pounds, pulling, pushing, reaching, sitting, talking, typing
