JOB DESCRIPTION

 

 

Title:                       Database Administrator

Reports To:             Director of Technology

Salary Range :          IT3

Work Year:             12 month - full time

Requirements:       High school or equivalent

                                Two years of college or graduation from a two-year technical college with an associate's degree

                                5-7 years experience required

Job Description:     Responsible for day-to-day operation, timely reporting, and general maintenance of the student information system and related data base systems throughout the district.

Essential Job Functions:

1.        Responsible for smooth daily operations, establishing and following sound procedures, and data integrity for the student management database and related systems. Assist buildings in developing the master schedule.

2.        Possess an understanding of SQL databases.

3.        Support processing of grades (progress, quarter, semester, final exam and eligibility) and GPA.

4.        Provide support for teacher gradebook and home access center.

5.        Compile and summarize data for IL Student Information System (demographic and assessment) and other state, federal, grant and internal reports as needed.

6.        Support special projects throughout the school year and district including parent teacher conference scheduling and registration.

7.        Provide accurate and appropriate data to staff through creation/ medication of custom reports and queries. 

8.        Support attendance office and create monthly attendance reports for district administration.

9.        Provide support for database issues that arise at all district schools, including contacting student information system vendor support.  Add and track cases given to vendor by district.

10.    Develop, implement, and improve district wide standards for student information system.

11.    Possess advanced Microsoft Excel knowledge.

12.    Applications support for a variety of productivity and educational software.

13.    Maintain software inventory and monitor installations to ensure proper licensing.

14.    Use understanding of data and systems to design and implement process improvements to school and district operations.

15.    Performs other duties as may be necessary and assigned by the Director of Technology.
