Job Description
TITLE:
Math Interventionist
CLASSIFICATION:
Certified
REPORTS TO:
School Administrator
SUMMARY:
The Math Interventionist/Assessment Coordinator will work
directly with K-6 children who are not making adequate progress
in early math skills as measured by SIOP. The
interventionist, working with small groups of struggling
students, will provide targeted, explicit instruction in
math.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.
Works collaboratively with the K-6
classroom teachers, the site math coach, and other site
educational professionals involved in making instructional
decisions for K-6 students.
2.
Works with struggling students in
K-6 classroom to provide the appropriate intervention.
3.
Provides guidance to the K-6
classroom teacher, site math coach, and other site educational
professionals in planning and implementing appropriate
intervention based on SIOP data that is directly linked to the
core math program.
4.
Acts as the site K-6 assessment
coordinator.
5.
Coordinates the SIOP assessment
team.
6.
Inputs SIOP benchmark scores.
7.
Provides support in administering
progress monitoring throughout the year.
8.
Works collaboratively with the K-6
classroom teachers, site reading coach, and other site
educational professionals involved in making instructional
decisions for K-6 students in analyzing and interpreting SIOP
data.
EDUCATION:
BA+45 or Masters Degree preferred
LICENSES OR
CERTIFICATIONS:
A valid
Arizona teacher certification
Must hold an Math Specialist Endorsement
EXPERIENCE:
Four
years teaching experience required in teaching the five essential
components in reading.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES:
Must be able to train parents and teachers
WORKING
CONDTIONS:
The working environment is the normal classroom setting.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Nine-month year, Certified Salary Schedule,
employee benefits in accordance with Board policies.
EVALUATION: Performance to be evaluated in accordance with Board
policy on evaluation of certified staff.
