Special Education Teacher

teaching license with the appropriate endorsement.

DISTRICT QUALIFICATIONS
1.
Must hold a degree in Early Childhood Special Education and
have at least one or more years experience.
2.
Willingness
and ability to meet the diverse needs of learners (
including special education,
at-risk, linguistically and culturally diverse) by adjusting
curriculum and working cooperatively with other staff through
inclusion.
3.
Conduct parent teacher conferences, home visits and ongoing
communication with parents.
4.
Demonstrate the ability to write and update IEP's.
5.
Demonstrate a clear understanding of early childhood education
and developmentally appropriate practices.
6.
Demonstrate
an understanding of a variety of screening and assessment tools
appropriate for young children.
7.
Will
have the ability to determine if special education services are
needed and understand the Colorado preschool special education
laws and regulations.
8.
Be able to provide individualized instructional support for
students.
9.
Be able to lead and supervise one or more paraprofessionals in
the classroom.
10.
Commitments
and competencies in using a variety of instructional deliveries
are including, but limited to, cooperative learning, and
interdisciplinary instructional thematic units.
11.
Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to a standards
based system of designing and delivering instruction and
assessment.
12.
Will
demonstrate a willingness to collaborate, and solve problems
with professional peers.
13.
Designs
instructional intervention that is clearly focused on the
standards and assessments established by the District and the
State.
14.
Provides expanded opportunities and support for learner
success.
15.
Aligns
all instruction with and designs instructional interventions
with State and local standards and assessments.
