VACANCY: ELEMENTARY SRBI SPECIALIST (10-Month Position)
REPORT TO: Assistant Superintendent for Elementary Education
EFFECTIVE: August 22, 2012
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Connecticut certification (or eligibility) as K-6 teacher (013 or 005), reading specialist, or special education teacher
- Minimum of three years of successful classroom teaching experience
- Evidence of well-developed knowledge and implementation of best practices in teaching balanced literacy and mathematics K-5
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with adults
- Capacity to develop, model, and deliver effective learning interventions
- Ability to assess performance, analyze data and plan long and short-term interventions
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Collaborate with classroom teachers and other specialists to provide academic interventions for students
- Utilizing research-based knowledge in identifying needs and providing interventions
- Consulting with elementary principals and assistant principals about SRBI process/plan
- Working collaboratively and directly with teachers and other specialists in kindergarten through grade five classrooms to identify students needing intervention and to plan improvement strategies
- Providing professional development and coaching related to balanced literacy and Scientific Research-Based Interventions (SRBI)
- Working with English language learners (Ells) as part of SRBI
- Designing, delivering, and assessing effective interventions for small groups
- Coordinating and training support staff (instructional aides)
- Creating and maintaining records about students and interventions
- Such other related duties as directed
