  Description:

Implements the District’s technology plans at the school level; Performs problem identification/determination;  Serves as the school contact for technology support, troubleshooting and solving hardware and software problems


Job Summary:

 

Network Administration:

  • Assists with general maintenance to keep network running smoothly
  • Assists with coordination and network-related repair requests with Information Technology personnel
  • Documents LAN wiring diagram including: wiring closet identification, wiring closet equipment configuration, and wiring drop identification
  • Maintains technical documentation required to support the local-area network
  • Performs maintenance and support of assigned servers and resources
  • Monitors disk space
  • Monitors server back-ups
  • Performs addition/removal of staff/student network and/or system access permissions

Software Administration:

  • Maintains an inventory of all available software for their school
  • Ensures school-level  conformance to the District’s software acquisition procedure/process
  • Seeks teacher input on future needs and assists with identifying software selections
  • Keeps current on new products available and developments in the field of instructional technology
  • Installs District approved software where needed 

Hardware Administration:

  • Sets up new workstations, print stations, assignments to default printers
  • Maintains inventory and performs record keeping functions of hardware locations, assignments, quantities, types and required repairs, including start-up and end-of-year processes
  • Recommends potential hardware purchases based on District approved hardware standards
  • Assists with maintenance of all equipment
  • Supervises onsite deliveries by third party vendors for computers, whiteboards, network printers and other technology installations

Communication:

  • Effectively communicates District and school-level technology initiatives to school administration, school staff, IT personnel and external vendors using a variety of media

Instruction/Training:

  • Attends District/cluster meeting and professional learning sessions, as necessary, to stay current with hardware and software utilized in the school and across the District
  • Provides information, assistance, and training to staff and students for incorporation into instruction
  • Assists in the training of local faculty and staff
  • Trains new personnel (electronic mail, data exchange, information stored in Media Center, hardware and software)
  • Fosters learning activities that take advantage of available technology resources
  • Assists teachers in the development of technology enhanced curriculum material
  • Ensures proper escalation/notification to appropriate internal and/or external IT resources for problem resolution
  • Performs other technical duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Computer Science, Instructional Technology, or Computer Information Systems
  • Must be able to successfully manage multiple tasks, projects, and responsibilities
  • Ability to apply critical thinking skills in rendering solutions to various issues
  • Must be able to collaborate effectively with District and school personnel, the general public, third party vendors and work with diverse groups of people
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal     

 

Experience:    

  • Minimum of 3 years experience working with local-area networks, PC based applications, Windows XP and Windows 7

Salary Information:

 

Salary Range

  • $33,233.00 - $40,320.00

Step placement credit may be granted for up to a maximum of 7 years (Step 8) of prior verifiable experience. Salary placement with Fulton County Schools is non-negotiable. Actual salary placement will be based on Fulton County Board of Education experience calculations from the Non-Teaching Salary Schedule A-190, Professional Scale, Step 1 - Step 8
