ENGLEWOOD SCHOOLS POSITION TITLE: ELL (English Language
Learner) Instructional Paraprofessional (Grant Funded) EFFECTIVE:
August 2012 175 days/ year 6.5 hours/day POSITION SUMMARY: This
position supports ELL teachers and students with in class and small
group instruction, clerical duties, supervision and redirection.
Additionally, the employee may provide feedback to teachers
regarding individual student performance. Develop and promote good
community relations among stakeholders. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES: Facilitate and support small groups of students.
Provide student supervision. Promote a learning environment that
respects the dignity of the child and is perceived by students as
fair and consistent. Support a learning environment that
establishes routines and provides for student engagement through
questioning, speculation, and originality. Encourage a learning
environment that is safe for responding and questioning, even for
the shyest student. Elicit responses from every member of the
group. Ensure understanding of material by all students. Lead
multi-level students to work together effectively. Establish
student, staff and parental rapport that allows for a proactive
response to potential problems. Actively participate in PLCs and
other required training. Apply and implement knowledge, skills and
new understandings to support instructional programming. Perform
other related duties as assigned or requested.

essential functions. EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE: Meet NCLB (No
Child Left Behind) qualifications for Paraprofessionals. High
School Graduate or equivalent. Bachelor of Arts (preferred).
Bilingual (preferred). English fluency will be determined through
the interview process. LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS: Valid Colorado
Driver's License. Valid CPR and First Aid Certification
(preferred). GENERAL EXPECTATIONS: Is flexible. Has
computer/technology skills. Has the ability to work with students
with diverse backgrounds, languages, and abilities. Has the ability
to work cooperatively with supervisors and co-workers. Has the
ability to understand and follow complex oral and written

analyze, instruct, negotiate, coordinate, communicate, problem
solve and use interpersonal skills. Has the ability to compare,
compute, synthesize and evaluate. Has the ability to meet
attendance standards and work the hours necessary to perform the
essential functions. Maintain confidentiality. Maintain a generally
positive attitude. Observe all District policies and procedures.
Adhere to federal and state legislation, regulation, and policies.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Frequent lifting 5 (five) to 10
(ten) pounds. Occasional lifting of up to fifty (50) pounds.
Frequent sitting, bending, walking, and standing. Occasional
stooping, kneeling, squatting, and reaching. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The
noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. Mostly clean
and comfortable. REPORTS TO: Principal or designee. LOCATION: Half
of the day will be at Cherrelyn Elementary. The other half will be
at Charles Hay World School. SALARY: (Grant Funded) For external
applicants: $10.02 - $13.63 per hour, depending on experience and
