EFFECTIVE DATE:  August 28, 2012

 

HOURS: 7 hours per day/35 hours per week -- during school year.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's in Education, Criminal Justice, Social Work, or Counseling preferred.
  • Previous work experience with Family Court preferred.
  • Ability to proactively work with students who are at-risk.
  • Knowledge of community, court system, and county agencies and services available to individuals and families.
  • Demonstrate mental/physical ability and stamina for meeting the requirements of the position.
  • Ability to work with school and county agency professionals.
  • Knowledge of school policy and procedures governing academics, attendance, and behavior.
  • Ability to facilitate student group sessions.
  • Excellent communication skills with students, parents and staff.
  • Be open to continuous change.
  • Willing to take initiative with minimal direction.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Work with students who are at-risk.
  • Assist at-risk students in the pursuit of success goals and strategies.
  • Knowledge of school policy and procedures governing academics, attendance, and behavior.
  • Facilitate student group sessions.
  • Provide academic interventions for individual at-risk students specifically in the areas of English Language Arts, math and science.
  • Provide intervention to small groups of at-risk students specifically in the areas of English Language Arts, math and science.
  • Be an excellent communicator with identified at-risk students.
  • Establish and facilitate meetings with each at-risk Challenge Program student.
  • Monitor progress of at-risk Challenge Program students and communicate to appropriate staff. 
  • Perform other duties as related to and allowed according to the legislation respective to 31A funding.

 

SALARY:  $15.00 per hour
