JOB PURPOSE AND RESPONSIBILITY: 

Incumbent develops and maintains computer system application programs in order to support user needs for school district information.  Incumbent will utilize hardware system and computer language reference materials and manuals in order to implement and maintain hardware systems, to develop, implement and make adjustments to application programs, and to perform troubleshooting.  Incumbent is responsible for providing timely and accurate information to district employees. 
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
 
EDUCATION:
  Four-year college degree in computer information systems or related field is required.  May substitute solid years of programming experience for education on a year for year basis.  Extensive training in various computer languages and hardware systems is required  

 

EXPERIENCE:  Incumbent must have the following:
· 7+ years software development experience in client/server or web environment.
· Experience in working with and defining end-user requirements.
· Experience with back-office and front-office systems including data warehousing, financials, HR, CRM a plus.
· Strong systems design and analysis.
· Strong development experiences in Java, JavaScript, HTML, JSP, XML, ASP, IIS, IIOP, distributed processing (CORBA, COM/DCOM, .NET), or cross-platform development. 
 
KNOWLEDGE & SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

*Excellent technical skills including demonstrated proficiency in at least two of the following: Java, C++, UNIX, and multiple relational databases, especially Oracle.
*Knowledge of object-oriented programming techniques, UML, CASE tools and data modeling a plus.

*interpersonal skills, initiative, and knowledge of various computer hardware systems, languages, applications, and standards is required.
*Knowledge of frequent changes in computer technologies, applications, and standards.  I

*Familiar with and have expertise in Unix shell scripting, Perl, PHP, SQL, web-based programming, and at least two high-level programming languages such as C++, Java, VB. 

*Experience with XML, XSL, dynamic HTML, JavaScript; Familiarity with networking concepts and protocols such as SNMP, TCP/IP, CIS, WBEM, and operating system internals on at least one platform.

*Familiar with application architectural concepts is required. 

*Ability to meet with end user, determine user needs, design and develop application programs, implement the programs to produce end products, and run existing programs.  I

*Ability to analyze problems, troubleshoot, and provide maintenance.

 

DUTY DAYS:  260 Days

 

SALARY:  CP06:  $60,000 - $75,000

                Salary determination will be based on documented experience.
