BILINGUAL PRESCHOOL CARE AND EDUCATION

SUPERVISOR

District 112 Community Education

 

One (1) Position: Kindergarten Center

                                          

40 hrs week  (Approximately 256 days/year - Year Round Position)

Tier 5 - $16.46 per hour

Position Start Date:   August 2012

 

Banded/Graded:   B-2-1                                                    

                                            

Position Purpose: To assist in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of District 112 Preschool Care and Education Program.  To supervise and provide learning opportunities to young children.

 

Responsible To:   Child Care Specialist

Position Requirements:            Relevant post-secondary coursework required

                                                Experience working with preschool children

                                                Current first aid and CPR certification

 

Preferred Qualifications:        State of MN licensure in Pre-Kindergarten or Early Childhood

   BA/BS degree in Elementary Education or a related field

 

Benefits of Employment as of July 1, 2010:   Eligible for benefits as negotiated between Student Support Staff (MSEA Association) and District 112.  This position is eligible for overtime and comp time.

-         Design program site environment

-         Plan, implement, and evaluate Program activities and age appropriate curriculum in cooperation with other staff and in alignment with instructional goals

-         Engage children in learning and provide feedback

-         Supervise children in ratio as needed

-         Implement behavior modification in cooperation with Program staff

 

-         Establish a culture for learning

-         Maintain attendance and children's records

-         Plan, purchase, and maintain supplies and food in cooperation with Program Specialist

-         Maintain records of accidents or situations involving children, staff, or parents

-         Attend required staff meetings and training

 

 

-         Provide site orientation and identify training needs of staff

-         Provide daily supervision, direction and communication with Program Assistants and Aides

-         Evaluate job performance under guidance of the Program Specialist

-         Arrange for substitutes in cooperation with the Program Specialist

-         Conduct site staff meetings

-         Participate in hiring process with Program Specialist

 

 

-         Communicate daily in a friendly and informative manner with parents

-         Develop and maintain a parent communication area

-         Facilitate a site based Advisory Council as needed

              

 

-           Written translation of informal documents from one language to another

-         Assist with parent contacts

       including some level of documentation

-         Participation in student planning meetings when necessary

-      Oral interpretation of written material where needed
