Twilight School Alternative School Program
Bridgeport Public Schools is offering a
new alternative "Twilight School" program. This program will
operate from 3:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. at Bassick, Central and
Harding High Schools. It is not part of the Bridgeport Adult
Education programs. Instead, it is an alternative
program for high school students currently enrolled in
Bassick, Central or Harding High Schools. All required
courses, as well as most elective courses will be available
to students. Instruction will use self-paced,
individualized computer instruction using the Apex Learning
Program.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ø
Works with individual
students in devising sequences of educational experiences that
may be expected to lead the students to achievement of their
specified goals.
Ø
Serves as a resource person
to students pursuing individual learning programs.
Ø
Meets regularly with
students assigned for the purposes of counseling, encouraging and
evaluating.
Ø
Employs instructional
methods and materials that are most appropriate for achieving
stated objectives.
Ø
Makes provision for being
available to students and parents for conferences outside the
instructional day when requested to do so.
Ø
Assists the administration
in implementing all the policies and rules governing student life
and conduct and for the classroom develops such procedures as are
necessary for the success of the alternative education
program.
Ø
Attends staff meetings and
maintains reports as required.
Ø
Other duties as
assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Ø
Part-time teachers will be
hired at the rate of $37.50 per hour, work hours will be 3:30
P.M. to 7:30 P.M.
Ø
Connecticut state teacher certification with the
endorsements: English (015), or mathematics (029), science
(030,031, 032, 033, 034), or social studies (266), or special
education (658).
Ø
Computer
proficiency.
Ø
Previous experience with
alternative programs is an advantage.
