E.L. Haynes Public Charter School
was founded in 2004 and has an award-winning program based on effective
practices for advancing student achievement. E.L. Haynes is among the top-performing
charter schools in Washington D.C., and is recognized locally and nationally as
a model and for our exceptional student achievement gains. E.L. Haynes
currently serves over 800 students in grades PreK-9 and continues to grow until
it serves PreK-12th grade.

Description
The Local Education
Agency (LEA) Associate provides support and administrative assistance to the
Head of School, Director of Policy and Accountability and Leadership Team. The LEA
Associate will streamline the workload of the Head of School to ensure that the
priority of the school’s mission and purpose is successfully executed. The LEA associate will assist members of the
leadership team on special projects and ensure compliance with private and
public grants. He or she will be exposed to the broader impact initiatives
being implemented at E.L. Haynes and will support those initiatives in various
capacities so an interest in education policy is a plus. This position requires
an employee that does not only possess excellent problem solving skills but
also exhibits a high level of organization and strong communication skills. The
LEA Associate will report to the Director of Policy and Accountability who will
work to monitor the various projects in which the LEA Associate is involved.
The following is a general list of
responsibilities of the position—additional duties may be assigned.

Calendar
and Time Management for Head of School and Leadership Team
o
Schedule
internal and external meetings for Head of School and Leadership Team members
o
Meet
on a weekly basis with Head of School to discuss emails, events, and upcoming
calendar availability
o
Appropriately
respond to email requests in a timely and professional manner
o
Ensure
Head of School’s time is maximized and aligned with organization’s priorities

Compliance
Assistance
o
Work
with the Director of Policy and Accountability to ensure all necessary
documentation is submitted on time (Public Charter School Board (PCSB) AOIS,
PMF/Accountability, Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE)
monitoring and other grant documents)
o
Gather
data and/or draft reports, as needed
o
Prepare
for monitoring visits from OSSE, PCSB and any other agency
o
Assist
in writing of the Annual Report for PCSB

Meeting
Preparation and Follow up
o
Assist
in the preparation of agendas and materials for meetings
o
Attend
meetings to take notes and record follow up assignments for Head of School,
Leadership Team members and others
o
Prepare
logistics for meetings, including reserving rooms, coordinating meals, and
alerting front office staff of guests arrival

Board
of Trustees Coordination
o
Board
of Trustees Coordination
o
Schedule
and assist in preparation for Board and Committee meetings
o
Attend
all Board meetings and take minutes
o
Disseminate
information to Trustees and maintain Board website (Wiki)
o
Prepare
materials required for annual Board Retreat

Communication
o
Oversee
internal and external communications with high stakes constituents
o
Respond,
as appropriate, on behalf of Head of School to invitations and requests for
information. Expertly manage Head of School’s contacts, including other charter
school leaders, donors, and VIPs Conduct campus tours and accurately
communicate the goals and mission of the school

Administrative
Responsibilities
o
Maintain
and update Head of School Biography
o
Manage
travel planning for Head of School, Director of Policy and other leadership
team members. Provide directions and materials for off-site meetings
o
Photocopy,
mail, fax, and file as needed
o
Gather
and open mail for Head of School
o
Complete
expense reports and submit monthly to Operations Department
·
Data
Management
o
Assist
leadership team members, especially The Director of Student Performance and
Assessment, with data input and analysis
o
Prepare
and clean up data for academic dashboards
·
Other
Duties as Assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree
- Commitment to
the E.L. Haynes mission and serving all students
- Ability to work
independently
- Meticulous
organization skills
- Strong written
and oral communication skills
Spanish
