ENGLEWOOD SCHOOLS POSITION TITLE: Director of Early Childhood
Education, 1.0 FTE EFFECTIVE: July 2012 205 days/year POSITION
SUMMARY: This position will perform all duties as School Principal
for 230 Pre-K students. Perform administrative tasks promoting
outstanding education and achievement for all students, developing
individuals and teams, and nurturing relationships. Supervise a
combination of certified and classified employees. Develop and
facilitate the Instructional Leadership Team focused on
implementing and monitoring the School Improve Goal in the areas of
Language/Literacy and Social/Emotional Competencies. Analyze data
and modify professional development in response to results. Provide
opportunities for and support ongoing development of all staff.
Align, train, mentor and monitor the implementation of 21st Century
Instructional Model with Colorado Department of Education's quality
standards for Ready Schools and Results Matter Initiatives. Develop
and promote good community relations among stakeholders. ESSENTIAL
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Oversee all facets of the ECE
program and personnel. • Serve as an instructional leader by
monitoring implementation of professional development through
classroom observations, evaluations, department meetings, and team
planning. • Lead and collaborate with others in the strategic
assignment of all students that provides the greatest potential for
maximizing achievement. • Collaborate with others in the assignment
and the supervision of delivery systems in order to most
effectively provide for students with special needs. • Promote an
environment of student and staff achievement by utilizing data
management tools to analyze results and draw inferences in order to
identify strengths and opportunities for improvement. • Implement
and monitor school-wide behavior expectations and policies; address
safety and welfare issues by holding meetings with parents,
investigating incidents, documenting findings, contacting proper
authorities and confirming to legal requirements and regulations. •
Lead initiatives that will enhance student success in and out of
school. • Coordinate, communicate and support school activities
that encourage stakeholder involvement in student learning and the
district as a whole. • Provide quality, accurate, constructive,
corrective, specific and timely feedback to students and staff that
encourages them to perform at their highest level. • Supervise and
promote extra-curricular activities and events. • Promote effective
communication within the school and between the school and
community. • Create positive staff and community support,
understanding, and participation in the school improvement process.
• Establish student, staff and parental rapport that allows for a
proactive response to potential problems. • Coordinate the
administration of state and district mandated assessments. •
Actively participate as a member of the District Leadership Team
and Positive Behavioral Intervention Support Team. • Serve as
liaison between Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education
to ensure alignment of curriculum, instruction and assessment with
state and national academic and quality standards. • Ensure
compliance and adherence with Head Start, CPP, Special Education,
Title I, Colorado Licensing, Board of Health, NAEYC, and Qualistar
standards and regulations. Oversee and participate in grant
applications. • Address building management concerns by working
with the custodial staff, office staff, teachers and District staff
including implementing school-wide safety and emergency protocols.
• Utilize technology and/or other avenues to communicate with
stakeholders. • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
SUPERVISION/TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervision and evaluation
of certified and classified employees. Fulfill supervisory
responsibilities in accordance with the district's policies and
applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and
training employees; planning, assigning and directing work;
conferences, goal setting, formal and informal observations,
feedback and employee evaluations; rewarding, disciplining and
terminating employees; and addressing complaints and resolving
problems. BUDGET AND/OR RESOURCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Prioritize and
schedule work tasks independently. Create and implement effective
and efficient process management strategies (e.g., procedures,
equipment, materials and supplies). Accurately develop and manage
the ECE budget which consists of $1.5 million in blended funding
from tuition, local, state and federal programs Project budgetary
needs and plans for effective use of fiscal resources. Maintain
accurate records in accordance with professional standards, state
guidelines, and school system policy. The
education/training/experience, license/certification, general

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree or Master's degree
(preferred) with emphasis in Early Childhood Education, or Child
Development. Bilingual (preferred). Experience in Special
Education, Early Childhood Education, or Elementary Education. Four
(4) years successful teaching experience. School administrator
experience. Demonstrated scheduling experience. Demonstrated skill
in the analysis of student and staff achievement. Demonstrated
experience in the evaluation of staff performance. Demonstrated
instructional leadership focused on learning. Demonstrated
experience with Professional Learning Communities. Demonstrated
skill in human relations, communication, and leadership. English
fluency will be determined through the interview process. LICENSES
OR CERTIFICATIONS: Valid Colorado Driver's License. Valid CPR and
First Aid Certification. Valid CDHS Director Qualified Letter.
Valid Colorado Principal License. GENERAL EXPECTATIONS: Is

attendance standards and work the hours necessary to perform the
essential functions. Maintain a generally positive attitude.

procedures. Adhere to federal and state legislation, regulation,
and policies. ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Frequent lifting 5
(five) to 10 (ten) pounds. Occasional lifting of up to seventy-five
(75) pounds. Frequent sitting, bending, walking, and standing,
stooping, kneeling, squatting, and reaching. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The
noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Mostly
clean and comfortable. REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent or
designee. LOCATION: Maddox. SALARY: $75,000 minimum, depending on
