Description:The job of Teacher’s Assistant is
established for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional program within an assigned
school with specific responsibility for assisting in the supervision and
instruction of students; observing and
documenting student progress;
implementing plans for
instruction; and assisting students by providing for needed interventions.
Job Summary:·
Adapts classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under
the direction of the supervising teacher for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing
classroom objectives.

Discusses assigned duties with classroom teachers in order to
coordinate instructional efforts.
·
Is the classroom supervisor in the absence of the Lead Teacher
·
Attends meetings and in-service presentations for the purpose of
acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job functions.
·
Communicates with classroom teacher and related professional
support personnel for the purpose of assisting in evaluating progress and/or implementing
IEP/504 objectives.
·
Maintains instructional materials and/or manual
and electronic files/records (e.g. lessons, attendance, pencils,
paper, teaching supplies, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring availability of
items, providing written reference, and/or meeting requirements.
·
Monitors students during assigned periods within a variety of
school environments (e.g. lunch, school crossings, playground, classroom,
restroom, field trips, assemblies, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a safe
and positive learning environment.
·
Participates in the implementation of IEP/504 instructional and
behavioral goals within the classroom for the purpose of meeting the Plan
goals, district benchmarks, and ensuring effective and safe student learning.
·
Provides instruction, under the supervision of the teacher, to the
students in a variety of individual and group activities (e.g. academic
subjects, social skills, giving oral tests, etc.) for the purpose of
reinforcing instructional objectives.

Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of
ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Qualifications:Job related experience is
required, High School
diploma or equivalent.
Working Conditions:
The usual and customary methods of performing the
job's functions require the following physical demands: lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; limited
climbing and balancing; generally the job requires 20% sitting, 35%
walking, and 45% standing. The job
is performed under minimal temperature variations and under conditions with minimal
exposure to risk of injury and/or illness. Many outdoor activities are performed through all the season throughout the school year.
