The Panama-Buena Vista Union School District announces an opening for an Account Clerk I. This is a twelve-month position. The Account Clerk I will work under the direct supervision of the Accounting Manager/Accounting Supervisor and the general supervision of the Director of Fiscal Services and the Assistant Superintendent of Business Services.
May be responsible for any or all of the following activities or similarly related jobs:
Open, sort, and file incoming mail; Maintain a regular filing system for financial data; Receive and process bills, invoices and other recurring documents related to financial transactions; Make arithmetical calculations and check various statistical and accounting tables and reports; Maintain and organize project files for construction projects; Create requisitions in the financial accounting system; Receive and pay on purchase orders; Match invoices to receiving documents to verify amounts; Prepare backup copies of invoices for Kern County Superintendent of Schools; Maintain and forward a list of any portable buildings added to school sites to SISC; Maintain and forward a list of any buildings relocated between school sites to SISC; May contact vendors regarding discrepancies in bills; Maintain various excel and word documents as needed for project monitoring; Maintain and monitor reimbursements for Custodial uniform allowance; Program Nextel two way radios for maintenance and grounds staff; Contact the applicable agency for any changes to recycling or trash deliveries; Coordinate with the applicable company regarding time and date for summer service of Fire; Suppression System and Fire Extinguisher services; Prepare journal entries as needed into the financial accounting system; Gather, tabulate and proofread statistical and financial data; Scan invoices to create attachments for requisitions and purchase orders; Assist the Accounting Technician with audit requests from the independent financial auditors; Perform other duties as requested by the Accounting Technician; Maintain successful working relationships.
High school education or equivalent; extensive experience in financial transaction processing and reporting; ability to operate office equipment; type 40 net words per minute; satisfactory score on the District Account Clerk screening test; experience with data entry applications, spreadsheets, and word processing software; ability to maintain successful working relationships.
Salary and Terms of Service:
Salary range (25) $2,559.28 to $3,187.68 per month, 8 steps. Work schedule 5 days per week, 8 hours per day. Holidays, sick leave and vacation benefits. The District currently contributes to family dental, medical, and vision insurance plans and an employee only life insurance plan.
