Literacy Coach

 

Individual must possess valid Illinois appropriate certification; District 34 is seeking energetic and enthusiastic candidates to fill a full-time literacy coach vacancy.  Salary based upon training and experience.

 Qualifications

  • Appropriate certification for the position (Reading Specialist Endorsement REQUIRED )
  • Background and experience in providing reading interventions, guided reading, instruction of comprehension strategies, and use of informal and formal assessment
  • Ability to plan, organize, and provide appropriate support for professional development activities collaboratively with principals, other literacy coaches and the Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning
  • Ability to use diverse instructional strategies and varied methods of assessment to provide a differentiated curriculum 
  • Experience with diagnosis and remediation of reading difficulties
  • <SUB> </SUB>Expertise in elementary school environments, specifically PreK-1<SUP>st</SUP>
  • Knowledge and ability to apply developmentally appropriate best practices
  • Knowledge and skills in integrating relevant technology into units of instruction
  • Practical knowledge of current assessment techniques
  • Demonstration of strong verbal interpersonal and written communication skills with colleagues, parents and administration
  • Willingness to participate on school committees for the general improvement of instruction and curriculum
  • Demonstration of a personal commitment to teacher collaboration and continuous professional growth
