Adapted Physical Education (Level II) Para Educator (Teacher Assistant) - Helena School District # 1 is an seeking an energetic, team oriented individual to assist and support students who require individualized attention during activities of the physical education lesson. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: working with individuals or groups of students under the direct supervision of the physical education teacher; demonstrating or having another student correctly demonstrate the skill or activity under instruction; closely supervising student(s) in teacher-planned activities, including physically standing an arm's reach away as needed; helping student(s) stay on task for activities taught by the physical education teacher through motivation, assistance, etc.; using appropriate activity modifications of equipment, rules, etc. as approved by the physical education teacher.; allowing student(s) to perform skills/activities as independently as possible.; facilitating positive, age-appropriate interaction between the student(s) and his/her peers.
Qualifications: Minimum qualifications include: high school diploma or equivalent; 2 + years' experience working with students with a variety of disabilities; and working knowledge of Adapted Physical Education; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience as determined by the District. A strong background or degree in Physical Education or related field is desired. Current Montana Drivers license and clean driving record is required.
Current entry level salary range is $10.51 to $12.98 per hour depending upon education level and applicable experience.
