Title:                                        Parent Resource Center Coordinator

 

Qualifications:                         *48 College Credit Hours or the ability to pass a State Approved Assessment within 90 days of employment.

                                                *High School Diploma

                                                *Basic Keyboarding/typing skills

                                                *Experience in leading or teaching adult groups preferred

 

Reports To:                             Building Principal

 

BASIC FUNCTION/PURPOSE

           

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

                The employee performing the duties of this position is frequently required to walk, sit, talk, hear, bend, stoop, and reach.   The employee may be occasionally required to manually lift, move, or carry up to 50 pounds.   The employee is required to interact with staff and meet the demands of several different people.   The employee is responsible for the work output of others.   The employee occasionally works extended hours.   Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Plan and conduct in-service activities for parents.
  2. Coordinate activities with the principal, Title I Curriculum Specialist, and other staff.
  3. Facilitate activities involving both children and parents.
  4. Develop and maintain a parent/community volunteer program.
  5. Act as the building communications representative.
    1. Attend district level communications representative.
    2. Contact appropriate agencies for public relations activities.
    3. Post announcements/messages on the interior and exterior signs.
    4. Develop and distribute the monthly parent newsletter.
  6. Provide transportation to and from the Parent Center/School when needed.
  7. Conduct home visits and telephone contacts.
  8. Schedule appointments between teaching staff and parents.
  9. Select materials for the Parent Center with the assistance of the principal, Title I Curriculum Specialist, teaching staff and parents.
  10. Provide and maintain a lending library of materials for parents.
  11. Coordinate activities with community agencies.
  12. Collect program data for continuous evaluation.
  13. Keep records and prepare reports:

a.        Materials check out

b.       Volunteer names and hours

c.        Parent workshops

d.       Classroom visits

e.        Parent contacts: phone, school visits and home visits

  1. Other duties as directed by the principal and/or Title I Curriculum Specialist.

 

Term of Employment:             9 Months

 

Salary Range:                          Pay will range from $9.87 to $10.87 per hour

 

Evaluation Frequency:            Job performance will be evaluated a minimum of 1 time per year.
